Axiom Honeycomb
Advanced Honeycomb Technologies (AHT) has joined the Axiom Materials family and will be called Axiom Honeycomb. We are proud to announce our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Carlsbad, California.
At Axiom Honeycomb, we specialize in manufacturing high-quality honeycomb cores that meet or exceed contractor specifications. Our cores are used in a diverse range of products, including commercial aircraft, communications and transportation equipment, space vehicles, construction materials, and recreational and sporting goods.
CMC prepregs are used for parts requiring thermal performance up to 2200°F
Specially formulated resin systems include epoxy, phenolic, polyester, cyanate ester, vinyl ester and polyimide.
Metal and composite bonding adhesives, surfacing and lightning strike films, and other bonding solutions.
Honeycomb cores are lightweight cellular core materials used in sandwich panel construction. They help provide stiffness and strength while keeping overall structure weight low.
Axiom offers aerospace-grade Nomex® honeycomb and commercial-grade Nomex® honeycomb. AHN 4120 is Axiom’s aerospace-grade Nomex® honeycomb and AHN 7800 is Axiom’s commercial-grade Nomex® honeycomb. We also offer alternative meta aramid honeycomb core exhibiting equivalent performances to Nomex honeycomb core.
Axiom’s honeycomb cores are used in commercial aircraft, communications and transportation equipment, space vehicles, construction materials, recreational products, and sporting goods. A Boeing Encore 737 Galley is an example of a major application.
AHN 4120 is Axiom’s aerospace-grade Nomex® honeycomb. Axiom describes it as a small-cell, low-density, non-metallic honeycomb that offers high strength and toughness.
AHN 7800 is Axiom’s commercial-grade Nomex® honeycomb. Axiom describes it as suitable for uses where resistance to corrosive attack and moisture are important.
The right honeycomb core depends on the application, grade requirement, density, cell size, thickness, panel design, bonding method, and environmental exposure. For aerospace applications, customers should verify the required grade, specification, and technical documentation before selecting a honeycomb core.
